Stella
"New Beginnings" - Stories About Saved NYC Shelter Animals
So I sent you a bunch. You chose what you like best. **( the little pittie is Sadie. My sister adopted her from United Action for Animals. She was saved from BACC by Reedu.) Stella (Sally) was emaciated, NOT SPAYED, as they had stated and had gone into heat 3 weeks after I pulled her from MACC. Because she had been used for breeding (as she appeared to have weaned a litter not long before they dumped her ) she went into a full blown False Pregnancy, which was heartbreaking to watch. It took many months to get her physically and emotionally well. She had filed down teeth, broken teeth, absolute fear of any intact male…especially GSD’s. She had severe separation anxiety. …but she recovered nicely. The SA is completely gone, and just one year after rescuing her, she passed her Good Canine Citizen Certification. She also stopped a mugging on the UES, saving a woman from 3 other women who were attempting to mug her! !!! She’s the love of our lives!!!! She swims year round at the beach…even in winter. In addition to Moon (the Border Collie mix in the photos, we also have a black cat and a ginger cat, which she adores. ) Stella gets along with everyone, canine, feline, human, etc!!!! She has assisted me in many animal rescues and being the only female animal in the house, she adds much needed Girl Power! The one with Ben Stiller was 1 week after her freedom from ACC. He posed with her to help promote Black Dog Adoption and Awareness. You can see how thin she was, and she was up to 53lbs from the 49.6 at her release.
