REMEY
"New Beginnings" - Stories About Saved NYC Shelter AnimalsHere is a new beginnings story which will make you realize this is why we do what we do at PODR. Samantha Angela Naimo White sent in this photo of Remey and her story on how she came to rescue her. It also sheds some light on the “allergy” excuse people use when they dump their pet. Thanks Samantha for saving Remey and we know she will have a very happy life with you!
Samantha wrote, “This is Remey. I adopted her from ACC’s Death Row list on August 7th, the day she was scheduled to be euthanized. As I normally crosspost the death row list for both cats & dogs in hopes someone or a rescue will save them, I always get upset & depressed knowing many don’t make it out of there. There are times you just can’t help flipping for a particular one. I saw Remey’s post & how horribly scared she looked. Many are very afraid & confused as to what is happening to them. They can sense & smell others being killed daily. I couldn’t help myself. I had to save her. She is approximately 4yrs. Old , neglected, matted fur, over weight (17Lbs.) & her owner used the excuse of being allergic. I myself deal with bad allergies all year round. I take meds like many do for relief. I don’t see being allergic as a good excuse to dump your furry companion in a high kill shelter. It’s just totally wrong & heartless. Remey was so depressed & traumatized from being dumped by the people she loved,& spending 3 days in that horrible place of death. She crawled into the corner of my closet.I picked her up , she made her body limp like dead weight, I placed her on her new fleece blanket in a box. What she did next just totally killed me. She buried her face in the blanket as if she was major depressed. My poor baby Remey, I promise to give you a good happy life. It’s been a little over 2 weeks now, & thank God Remey is doing well adjusting. She’s a sweetie. Loving the blankets, the cat beds, a million toys & interactive play time. 2X a day. She has 2 feline sisters & she doesn’t mind my big boy “John the dog” . In many ways she reminds me of my baby Stormy (RIP). No regrets saving this sweet baby’s life. I wish more people could do the same. Love all the furry babies! “
