"New Beginnings" - Stories About Saved NYC Shelter AnimalsSAFE, ADOPTED & LOVED! From our friends at Magnificat Rehoming and Rescue:
Twelve-year-old Cotton Ball #1119597 and his much younger housemate Nick #1119598 landed at the New York City ACC last summer after their owner died. Magnificat Cat Rescue NEVER separates a bonded pair, so of course we pulled both when they appeared on the euthanasia list. They were fostered first by Lisa and David Lande and then by Kris Barone Parente while we worked to find them the perfect home.
Thanks to our friend and rescue partner, Susan, Cotton Ball and Nick went to their new home in December. John loved cats, but when he and his wife got divorced, he let the family cat go with the stepchildren because he knew how attached they were to him, even though it meant coming back every night to an empty house.
Cotton Ball and Nick changed all that. They are the sweetest, most affectionate cats. Of course they’ve made John’s bed theirs, the way cats do, and by now they consider John their personal property, too. We all know who owns whom when there are cats in the house!
We got the nicest update from John a few days ago:
“They are doing great. Running around playing, walking in empty rooms to hear their own meows, and for whatever reason they like to hang out in the guest bathroom tub. I think they saved me, more than I did them.”
Magnificat Cat Rescue is a 501 c (3) registered nonprofit and donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. Donations help us save cats like Cotton Ball and Nick:
