CHLOE (FKA FLANNERY-PUDDLES)
From our friends at Anjellicle Cats Rescue–about a kitty formerly known as Puddles–pulled from the shelter in March 2015:
In August 2015, I moved to NYC for the first time. I knew I was passionate about animal welfare, so after researching a few places I could volunteer at, I landed upon Anjellicle Cats Rescue.
I attended orientation shortly thereafter, where I learned about fostering for the first time. From there, I fostered a couple of cats for short periods, but in January of 2016, a very special cat came into my life– an older cat who was suffering from some health problems at the time. I was nervous to foster an older cat, especially one with health problems, because I’d never taken on a responsibility like that before, but I took this kitty into my apartment.
The first two weeks, she was very quiet and reserved, spending most of her time hidden under the bed. I gave her space and time because she was nervous.
A few more months went by, and she became increasingly comfortable. She would let me pet her on her head and slept on my bed as long as I wasn’t there. Little did I realize how much I truly began to love this tiny little cat.
Ten months later in October 2016, I unexpectedly needed to move out of state, and I was left uncertain of what to do with this kitty. My options were to give her back to ACR and help her find a new, loving home, or to adopt her. For a few days, I was completely stuck. But news came that someone else was interested in fostering her. At first, I was excited that she could have a new home just as I was leaving NYC… but that same night, I watched her innocently laying on my bed, and I broke down crying. I knew I couldn’t live without her because I had simply fallen too deeply in love with her.
So, I, like many of you, became a foster failure. I adopted this little girl and officially became her new mother! We moved together, and I continued to look after her with (quite frequent) vet appointments. We hit some big milestones together, like the first time she slept through the night with me in my bed.
In December 2017, I moved to San Francisco, and I took her along with me. She even got a photo with Santa!
This beautiful cat’s name is Chloe (originally Flannery/Puddles), and she’s been a blessing in my boyfriend and my lives. She’s given us quite a few scares health-wise but has always come back strong. We love her deeply.
I don’t usually post publicly like this, but tomorrow is a very special day because she’s celebrating her 15th birthday (we approximated, with help from several vets, because we don’t know her exact birthday or age). Chloe is doing very well and sees a vet regularly here in San Francisco. We are so grateful to have her here with us! Thank you, ACR, for introducing Chloe in our lives.
