BODIE A1072705
"New Beginnings" - Stories About Saved NYC Shelter AnimalsWe received this great update from Magnificat Cat Rescue:
“We had no business pulling cats, given our finances, but one look at Bodie’s pitiful battered face was enough for our program manager, the Orange Cat Lady, to fall in love. Then she read his description (“very friendly, gives head butts although in pain”) and decreed Bodie HAD to be a Magnificat. Aided and abetted by a generous friend, Magnificat pulled Bodie and sent him straight to a vet.
“Bodie had obvious trauma injuries – stiff and painful walk and a swollen mouth – so he was sedated and x-rayed. For once we got good news: no fractures of the hip or legs, and the injury to his jaw sees to be healing on its own and will not require surgery. The vet thinks he may have been hit by a car and the stiff gait is probably because he is badly bruised. Just to be on the safe side (and because of our recent experience with Jessica Kitten), he is getting tested for toxoplasmosis. He does have an elevated white blood cell count, so he will be on antibiotics. But he is eating …and eating..and eating! He will stay at the vet for a couple of days under observation, just to make sure all is well.
“The vet says Bodie is one of the friendliest cats he has ever met.
“While he was under sedation, Bodie was thoroughly cleaned. To our utter astonishment, under all that blood and pus and dirt, was a handsome orange and white cat!
“We actually asked the vet to make sure it was the right cat, we could not believe the difference.
“Take a look at these before-and-after pictures!
“Bodie needs a foster or adopter asap – please email [email protected] if interested in fostering or adopting our handsome boy.”
