From our friends at Magnificat Cat Rescue: The irresistible, irrepressible Sandy has been adopted!
He was SANDY A1080822 at the New York City ACC, not even a year old when his family dumped him there. We rescued him on the day he was going to be euthanized.
Our friend Kris fostered him for months, alternating between exasperation and amusement at his antics. Kris called him “Hurricane Sandy” for his ability to create havoc, but she would end up smothering him in kisses every time she tried to scold him. On Petfinder, we tried to convey accurately the full measure of Sandy’s charm and capacity for mischief:
“He really is a funny little cat. When you tell him, “No, Sandy, no nipping!” he looks up at you with big innocent eyes and meows as if to say “No? Why not?” Then he rubs himself against you to show that he forgives you for your human obtuseness, and of course you melt over him. He really is endearing, especially when he is conducting an animated meow conversation with you.”
Katerina found him on Petfinder. She wanted a playful, young cat as a companion to Kasha, her equally active young female. So we drove Sandy up to White Plains for what we thought would be a three-day trial. Instead, it took just 24 hours. The very next day, Katerina called to let us know that Sandy would be staying.
“He’s exactly as you described him,” she said. “Last night he supervised while I was making dinner and he follows us everywhere. He even joined Kasha on our bed last night. We can already tell this is going to work out, so let’s make it official.”
And that is how Hurricane Sandy found himself a home with two adoring humans and a cat sister. Many, many thanks to Kris for fostering the Feline Hurricane!
