Nala (A1064197) was a 10 year old kitty who found himself in the ACC and finally on the At Risk list in February of 2016. He was pulled by Magnificat Rescue and Rehoming for foster. FINALLY Nala has been adopted! Here is the story from Magnificat:
He was Nala #A1064197 when he went on the euthanasia list in February, 2016, a peach-colored, 10-year-old cat who had been surrendered to the New York City ACC. According to the notes, he had lived with the same family since he was a kitten – the same family that never got him neutered, never took him to a vet in ten years, and left him behind when they moved.
Magnificat Cat Rescue pulled him on the day he was to die. There was a shy, dignified appeal in his eyes that we could not refuse.
We nursed Nala through an upper respiratory infection and ringworm. We got him neutered and vetted. We posted him on Facebook, Petfinder, and Craig’s List.
Nothing. Nobody wanted an older cat, even one as gentle and affectionate as Nala.
A year went by, and Nala turned 11. Every time we saw him, we tried to reassure him that we would find him a home someday, knowing that it was probably a lie.
Last week we got an email from Kim in NJ. The ACC cat she first wanted turned to be already placed with another rescue, so, without too much hope, we suggested Nala instead. The next thing we knew, she emailed back a complete application for Nala.
So yesterday we drove to the other side of the Bronx to pick up Nala, then another hour and half to Red Bank, NJ, to a beautiful home where Kim, her husband, their two sons, their two rescued cats and their two rescued dogs were waiting.
The minute the carrier door opened, Nala acted as if this had always been his home. He nuzzled Kim, explored a bit, nuzzled first one son and then the other, tested the bed to see if it was to his liking, came back to Kim for a kiss, and in every way behaved like a cat who was seeing his dream come true.
As for us…well, we were trying our best to blink away tears.
Here is Nala on his new bed, being kissed by Kim, being brushed by Kim’s son, and in his ACC picture.”
THANKS TO MAGNIFICAT FOR SAVING THIS SWEET CAT AND FINDING HIM A HOME!
