Lina
"New Beginnings" - Stories About Saved NYC Shelter AnimalsI follow the dogs of Urgent since I do rescue volunteer work and I remember the day Lina, A1062939, appeared on the page. She was so cute with her quizzical face and half mast ears that I was certain someone would adopt her quickly. But as the weeks went on she sat there, just another Pittie that no one wanted and eventually she got the dreaded kennel cough and landed on the “To Be Destroyed” list. I panicked, she was just a pup and had a great behavior evaluation of “average” and a good video that showed she was a soft, responsive and trainable young girl with loads of potential. I pledged for her and she was pulled by a great rescue, but I couldn’t stop thinking about her and applied to adopt her. She recovered well in a fabulous foster home (thank you Bethany and Eric!) and got a great start in house training and learning to live in a family environment. She has been with us for a couple of weeks and she is better than I even imagined, smart, funny, lovable and just an all around wonderful puppy. Her new name is Storm because Lina was too similar to one of our other dog’s names and a perfect storm of events had to come together to bring her to our family. She is my morning running partner, our family hiking companion and our snoring snuggle buddy. She adores our kids and goes to the bus stop to be hugged and loved by all the neighborhood children each morning before school. We look forward to loving her until the end of her days.
