"New Beginnings" - Stories About Saved NYC Shelter Animals
Donnie was pulled for foster over a year ago. After many months his foster home became his purr-manent home! Here is the story from Jennifer Fresso who sent us this photo of Donnie – who is the gray tabby in the picture.
” I pulled Donnie with his brother about 18 months ago. There was an issue with the website so they were on the list 4 days. They were 4 months old. They were pretty sick for about 2 months. When they got better the rescue took them back. His brother was adopted but no one wanted Donnie. He’s very very shy. I thought about him a lot and after 6 months still no one wanted him. I told the rescue I would take him back and he can at least live out in the house with all the other cats. Well he just adores the other cats. And many many months of me being patient and talking to him and bribing him with canned food I was able to touch him. Now I can pet him all the time and he purrs and rolls on his back for tummy rubs. Licks my hand and bunny kicks. He’s still very shy and sudden movements or noises will scare him. But he doesn’t even flinch now when I pet his head. I wanted to share his story bc just bc a cat is shy and scared doesn’t mean he won’t make a great pet in time. I love Donnie. He’s such a good boy. Doesn’t bother any of the cats. He just wants to love on them. Donnie is the grey cat. The white cat is Theo who is blind. We adopted him from associated humane”
