Apollo
"New Beginnings" - Stories About Saved NYC Shelter AnimalsMy son’s father kept our rescue after the divorce, so we wanted a dog for my house, too. We went up to the Manhattan ACC, and ran into a sweet lady that told me about this site. She urged me to adopt a dog on the super urgent list named Jada. I looked into Jada, but she wasn’t recommended for homes with children. I scrolled down the page a little further and saw a red dog, wearing a shamrock bandana, with the saddest pair of eyes staring back at me. They seemed to be saying, “Please take me home. I don’t belong here”. His name was Apollo and he had a green safer rating. When we saw him in his cage he just lay on the bed, all the way in the back, not really looking at us. My son and I sat there talking softly and saying how cute he was. Eventually he (sadly) moved to the front of the cage. We stuck our fingers through and he licked them. From that moment on, he was our dog. When we brought him home suddenly a happy, playful dog emerged, who loved laying on anything soft (especially his humans) and stuck to us like glue. These days he comes to work with me and calmly greets the clientele. Because of your site he went from certain death to his forever home!
